Hearing · Heartbreak · Redemption
Av carries Tisha B'Av, a day of collective mourning, and later Tu B'Av, associated with consolation, relationship, and renewed possibility.
The spiritual essence
א
Hearing · Heartbreak · Redemption
Av does not hurry past heartbreak. It gives loss a place in time and asks us to listen—to history, to one another, and to what pain reveals about what we value.
Yet mourning is not the month's final word. The movement toward consolation suggests that redemption begins when grief becomes a source of attention rather than isolation. A heart that can break can also become more responsive.
